In 2008, Archant Print was awarded OHSAS 18001 Health & Safety, ISO 14001 Environmental Manager, ISO 9001 Quality Management.

Archant Print was the first regional newspaper company in the UK to gain all 3 accreditations at the same time.

Dave Pontefract, the Accreditation Auditor for United Registrar of Systems Ltd, stated:

“Every once in a while I come across a company that stands out from the rest such a company is Archant Print. It has an impressive Health & Safety culture which was obvious from the moment I signed in!

The company is run efficiently and is always looking for advancements notable with the advances in colour technology on the presses. With those improvements also comes lower emissions and the use of solvents has dropped significantly over the years. ISO 9001

is one of a series of quality management system standards. It helps by enabling Archant Print to understand our quality processes for delivering our products/services to our customers. The ISO 9001 series of standards consist of:

  • ISO 9000 – Fundamentals and Vocabulary: this introduces the user to the concepts behind the management systems and specifies the terminology used.
  • ISO 9001 – Requirements: this sets out the criteria we needed to meet to be able to operate in accordance with this certification.
  • ISO 9004 – Guidelines for performance improvement: based upon the eight quality management principles, these are designed to be used by senior management as a framework to guide their organizations towards improved performance by considering the needs of all interested parties, not just customers.
